REV. ADEBOYE:QUOTEABLE QUOTES.

Rev. Adeboye is undisputably a great man of God. His Ministry has propagated the Gospel across Nigeria and beyond. Recently, social media was buzzed with his words. He was quoted to have said "if you meet your wife on Facebook, you will lose her on YouTube".

Admittedly, I do not know in what context the statement was made, but the quote in itself is almost laughable.

Facebook is a leading social media platform. It is an online community of people from different races, countries, class, intellect, etc. Simply put, it is an assembly of people. Being an online community does not discount the capacity and potentials of the people on the platform.

Most "personalities" have leveraged on this and created a heavy presence online, thereby effectively reaching out to people they may have never gotten across to. Nothing is downgrading about that. It does not remove shine from whatever may be accomplished from the spin-off.

An online meeting point should not be put through disregard. It is not as if there is exactly an ideal meeting point. People meet people anywhere. A highly respected friend of mine reminded me a few days ago that we met at a funeral. That does not put a characteristic on what is be expected to define the course of the relationship.

Too many things do not have one defining characteristic. Place of first meeting has very little definitive influence. It cannot be used as a one-off criteria to predict the success or failure of a union.

The devil makes it to the presence of God. So even the House of God is not a safe haven to meet (good) people.

This quote should teach us something about every word that proceeds from the mouth of a Preacher. Some people affirmed the point the quote made, others simply considered it laughable and I believe it is. Some other teachings may be subtle and the shocking averse message they contain would not appear so profound. And still it would be (well) received and imbibed.

I have met wonderful people on Facebook, going by the quote, I earnestly pray I do not lose them on YouTube. Unless the quote only applies to marriages.
